An ongoing collaboration piece with Tituba and Amber Mahoney

Tituba was an enslaved woman who was wrongly accused of witchcraft during the Salem Witch Trials. The Salem Village Parsonage is the site where Tituba lived and is currently a site for people to visit. The plaque that stands at that site uses language which continues to place blame on Tituba for hysteria which resulted in the death of 23 people.
Amber Mahoney, who has thoroughly researched the lasting effects of the language surrounding the Salem Witch Trials, asked to collaborate on a piece to intervene the language at the Salem Village Parsonage. We decided to create a cast glass tablet to place over the text for a day, obscuring the language and reclaiming the site as one that can honor TItuba's memory. We also planted forget-me-nots on the site.
